CAMPESINAS ORGANIZING FOR HEALTH, SAFETY, AND JUSTICE IN FARMWORKER COMMUNITIES AND BEYOND
who we are
Alianza Nacional de Campesinas is the first national women farmworkers’ organization in the U. S. created by current and former women farmworkers, along with women who hail from farmworker families.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to unify the struggle to promote women farmworker’s leadership in a national movement to create broader visibility and advocate for changes that ensure their human rights.
what we do
As an organization by and for campesinas organizing their communities for labor standards that center worker health and safety, for immigrant and migrant justice, and for an end to gender-based violence, we work at the intersection of gender, migrant, labor, and climate justice. We work for sustainable and healthy communities where campesinas and their families can live well and thrive.
THE LATEST
Gender Based Violence
Alianza Nacional de Campesinas has long worked to end the epidemic of domestic and sexual violence experienced by farmworker women and girls (campesinas) through education, intervention, and advocacy efforts. During National Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Month, Alianza and our members showcased their Mandilitos (Little Aprons) to promote dialogue with farmworkers and community members on violence, toxic masculinity, healthy relationships, and gender equity. Members also contacted their senators and demanded that they stand with survivors and their families by introducing and passing a robust, Violence Against Women Act (WAVA) reauthorization, with enhanced protections for immigrant and migrant survivors.

EXPAND THE CHILD TAX CREDIT
Alianza and a coalition of organizations supporting immigrant and migrant survivors and their families are calling on Congress to expand the Child Tax Credit to all children who need it regardless of immigration status and to make it permanent. 113 organizations have signed our letter of support. Contact your members of Congress and spread the word. Now is the time to deliver relief for millions of farmworker families. Read more here.
A PATHWAY TO CITIZENSHIP
We have a unique opportunity to call on Congress to prioritize it in the reconciliation package for the 2021 budget right now. At least 50% of the nearly 3 million farmworkers in the United States are undocumented. Many more are under provisional statuses through Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and other forms of temporary relief from deportation and work authorization that at the same time, do not offer full civil rights. Alianza is calling for citizenship for ALL, NOW. Find your member of congress here.
History
Alianza Nacional de Campesinas was launched in 2011 after many years of conversations with women farmworkers throughout the United States and Mexico. For years, women farmworkers and advocates organized and engaged in activities in their home states and communities, which were aimed at securing help and resources for women farmworkers on many issues, including domestic violence, sexual harassment, basic employment rights, healthcare, education, housing, immigration and other issues. Over the years it became clear that it was necessary to unite these efforts at a national level in order to have the greatest impact possible.
Alianza Nacional de Campesinas hosted our third Convivencia Nacional with our members from across the country. Over 75 of our members from the U.S. & México came together April 16 - 19, 2021 to set our political priorities for the next 2 years. We also met with 20 senators and 31 congressional representatives where we lobbied for political support of our priorities. Click the photo for more info.
